Searching for the moonshine, myth and madness of the American Wilderness. An evening of stories and songs. Tales of ghost towns, the emigrant, the doomed lover, the extraordinary lives of ordinary people, real and imagined.
Written from the nitty-gritty experience of month-long treks and road trips, off the main strip, along the backwoods and byways of the southern states of America, Steve Bonham and The Long Road bring to life the songs and stories from their acclaimed American Wilderness Odyssey album and its companion book. Featuring 'hit songs' such as Wrapped Up In You, American Wilderness, Ballad of Duane and Billy Marie. |
Rob McHale![]() We are delighted to be joined on several of our gigs by the acclaimed American folk songwriter Rob McHale. The International Music and Entertainment Association Folk Artist of the Year 2019, Rob is Americana distilled. His songs are redolent with the essence and legend of old America, a vanishing world of the outlaw, the old saloon, the settler and the moonshiner. Sung with a voice and style reminiscent of Gordon Lightfoot they also capture the small, almost overlooked, intimate tales of folk history.
Rob is the real deal starting life as a pilot flying the US Mail in rickety old aircraft, sometime farmer and proud citizen of North Carolina. “The real prize with the North Carolina songman, however, is what is felt with his songs, the way his words offer experience, advice and overviews of life. McHale wears the skins of his characters: his stories allow for the familiar to be felt as an old friend and the unknown to become family by the end of the song.” Danny McCloskey The Alternate Root Magazine
